Honey Soy Pork Skewers

Tender, juicy pork shoulder skewers marinated in a sweet and savory honey soy glaze. Perfect for the grill and incredibly easy to make.

Ingredients

Serves 4-6

Pork

  • 1 kg (2.2 lb) pork shoulder, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Marinade

  • ½ dl (¼ cup) Chinese soy sauce
  • ½ dl (¼ cup) sweet chili sauce
  • ½ dl (¼ cup) neutral cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the pork shoulder into evenly sized cubes, about 3–4 cm (1½ inches).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, oil, honey, salt and black pepper.
  3. Add the pork and toss until every piece is well coated.
  4. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for the best flavor.
  5. Thread the marinated pork onto skewers without packing the pieces too tightly.
  6. Cook the skewers on a preheated charcoal or gas grill over medium-high heat, turning frequently until nicely charred and caramelized. The pork is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 63°C (145°F). Let rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Notes & Pro Tips

  • Marinating overnight creates deeper flavor and more tender meat.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
  • Serve with steamed rice, grilled vegetables, pickled cucumber or a fresh cabbage salad.
  • A squeeze of fresh lime just before serving adds a bright contrast to the sweet and savory glaze.
